Cool. I did just take a look on a second computer (to view them on Outlook would take forever), and although I don't recall the horn specifically -- I have sold a few nickel-plated Chu altos over time -- it should be a monster. It is of a very desirable vintage. 23x,xxx is much more desirable than those I viewed in a quick search of recent eBay sales. I would say -- assuming it is playing very well, still, and has sustained no damage -- that $825-875 for you would be a modest expectation, and that $950 or greater would be more reasonable, with $975 being a very fair price both to you and to the buyer, as a transaction between private owner & buyer. I think if I had it, and it was freshly overhauled, I would probably ask a bit more than that as a dealer's price. The horn is set-up with Ferree's Conn "Reso-Pads" with custom-sized flat resonators, roughly medium-large -- larger than is stock for reso's from Ferree's. I don't think you told me where you are, or if you did you could remind me. If I know of someone in your area (I probably don't, but you never know) that I feel confident would tighten the horn up nicely, or go over it to tighten it up, I will let you know. That should be a very, very nice "Chu" alto. Nickel finish examples usually play exceptionally well and, again, it is of an exceptionally desirable vintage. You may quote me, from this letter, but if you do, please quote the entire text of this message. I hope you got good use from that horn, as it is likely a very nice one. Best, Palo
